Komeedi püüdmine in Algernon

I’m completely thrilled to have my story Komeedi püüdmine (“Comet Catching”) translated into Estonian by Juhan Habicht and published in Algernon.

This was originally published as To Catch a Comet in Galaxy’s Edge.

It starts something like this…

Saatja: Samantha Schandin
Saaja: Greg Smith
Teema: Asteroidioht

Armas Greg,
Palun vaata kirja lisas olevaid, Observatorio del Teide värskelt kogutud andmetel põhinevaid hinnanguid läheneva asteroidi kohta. Tulemused on õigeks tunnistatud ka siin, Cambridge’i Astrofüüsikaosakonnas.
Nagu sa näed, pole tegemist heade uudistega. Sa pole viimasel ajal kirjutanud, kuidas su töö edeneb, ja ma loodan, et tõrjemissiooni ettevalmistamisel pole tekkinud viivitusi, sest kokkupõrkeni on jäänud ainult loetud kuud.
Palun võta ühendust ja anna mulle asjade seisust teada.
-Samantha

My Very Faerie Blog Tour

I’ve been wandering all over the world to talk to people about the release of Domnall and the Borrowed Child. It’s been a busy but very fun process and I had a great time exploring different angles. Here’s the collection of posts that I’ve written over the past few weeks:

Tor.com – Five Reasons Not To Piss Off the Fair Folk : http://www.tor.com/2015/10/21/five-reasons-not-to-piss-off-the-fair-folk/
…in which I give a modern slant to ancient lore and legend. The comments on this had me laughing out loud with the seriousness with which they were taking my premise.

Deborah Walker’s blog – The Ephemeral Muse : http://deborahwalkersbibliography.blogspot.co.uk/2015/11/the-ephemeral-muse-happy-book-birthday.html
…in which I escape to Glastonbury for the weekend and try to work out why the hell I’m writing anything anyway

Rachel Swirsky’s blog – Interview : http://rachelswirsky.com/2015/11/interviewing-sylvia-sprug-wrigley/
…in which Rachel asks me interesting questions about being a writer outside of the US

Alex Shwartsman’s The Hook – Domnall : http://alexshvartsman.com/2015/02/25/introducing-the-hook/
…in which I discuss how I found the beginning of Domnall and why I decided to go with a soft start

Writers Read – Sylvia Spruck Wrigley : http://whatarewritersreading.blogspot.co.uk/2015/11/sylvia-spruck-wrigley.html
…in which I admit that I might be a tiny bit behind just now

Beth Cato’s Bready or Not : Lemon Fairy Cakes – http://www.bethcato.com/bready-or-not-guest-sylvia-spruck-wrigley-with-fairy-cakes/
…in which my family ensures that I will never make them baked goods again, ungrateful wretches

Kate Heartfield’s Unlikely Influences : http://heartfieldfiction.com/2015/11/15/unlikely-influences-what-sylvia-spruck-wrigley-learned-from-a-spontaeous-vacation/
…in which I tell the story of how I acccidentally went to Scotland in the first place

Dan Koboldt’s Science in Sci-Fi, Fact in Fantasy : Space Flight in Science Fiction – http://dankoboldt.com/space-flight-science-fiction/
…in which I explain illusions which confuse and disorient pilots and how they would affect a space battle

Tor.com : Five Modern Books with Bad-Ass Fairies – http://www.tor.com/2015/11/10/five-modern-books-with-bad-ass-fairies/
…in which I discuss five of my favourite books with Bad-Ass Fairies

And now, I think I’m going to sleep for a week!

The Sex Adventurer’s Handbook to Kuiper Belt Resorts in Expanded Horizons

I’m in the latest issue of Expanded Horizons!

Dear Author,

I picked up your book, the Sex Adventurer’s Travel Guide to the Kuiper Belt, on sale at a used book bulletin on frugalspacefarers.com. I now recognize that this was my first mistake. However, although I was aware that the book might be out of date, it didn’t occur to me that it could possibly be so wildly inaccurate so as to get me into serious trouble…

The Daffodil Project sold to Nature

I’m excited that my short story The Daffodil Project has been picked up for Nature Future’s and will appear in an upcoming issue of the magazine.

This is my fourth story in Nature and it remains one of my favourite sources of short fiction.
